Event Details: April 17th, 3-5 PM RTP Building 7 Floor 1 Moe's Tavern WebEx URL: https://cisco.webex.com/meet/mrothber Pass [Over] The Plate • Join Connected Jewish Network in supporting Learning Together, a school focused on the development, education, and health needs of young children of all abilities. Connected Jewish Network is a new organization inside Cisco with the purpose of facilitating and encouraging the celebration of Jewish culture. We hope to educate and connect those of Jewish heritage, as well as any curious colleagues, to harness inclusivity and community building. To celebrate the creation of CJN, we will be holding a kick-off event to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover. This will be an open event in which all members of the Cisco community are encouraged to join, whether in-person or virtually. There will be plenty of food, including chocolate matzo, Mandel bread, and matzo ball Soup. Philanthropy is a critical component of CJN. For this event, in particular, we invite you to donate in support of Learning Together. Learning Together's vision is to create a Community of Promise - where children of all abilities are able to reach their full potential with the support of their community and families. They achieve this goal through their Developmental Day Center, which provides an inclusive center-based program for children from 18 months to six years of age with, or at risk for, developmental disabilities as well as for children typically developing.

PACT 2018, Volunteering trip to Haiti Fund
Please join me in supporting PACT 2018, a volunteering trip to Haiti by Cisco employees running a week long, hands on training on VoIP, Security, Meraki and professional development for a Haitian 100 students! Last year we started a program at the Foundation of the World called Progress & Accelerated Change through Technology PACT. The program is four-day training taught by Subject Matter Experts from the IT industry in the areas of VoIP, Network Security, Virtualization and Professional Development. Our experts come from Cisco in the USA and Cisco Network Academy alumni native to Haiti. The idea is to work with a group of 25 students at a time and train them in all four areas over the course of four days. On the final day, the participants will shadow at different tech companies in Haiti. Event Highlights The critical component is the participants spending most of their time learning through laboratories & exposure in each of the areas listed below. Therefore, the knowledge gained is practical: Voice Over Internet Protocol Network Security Meraki Cloud Networking Professional Development The Shadowing Day is designed to help the participants identify and explore career options by observing the working environment and meeting with professionals in areas of interest. One of the keys to Haiti's future is the development of its tech industry; a High-Tech Revolution. Haiti's internet penetration rate is currently at 12.8% (U.S. Census Bureau - 2016) compared to the U.S. at 88.6%. Internet penetration is positively affected by the literacy rate within a country. The youth (15-24 years) literacy rate in Haiti (2008-2012) is around 72%, Haiti's highest to date. ICTs are vectors of economic and social transformation. By improving access to services, enhancing connectivity, creating business and employment opportunities, and changing the ways people communicate, Haiti can start its revolution. The participants we help will be leaders of that revolution through jobs, innovation and sharing their knowledge with others.
