the AI Shame Bank Fund
Using AI isn’t a crime — but it feels illegal in my heart. If you’ve ever felt that little pang of guilt after asking ChatGPT to plan your trip, crank out a Google Slides presentation for work, or even write this very paragraph for your fundraising site — here’s your chance to balance the karmic scales. Your guilt goes straight to grassroots climate justice Deposit $5 in the AI Shame Bank and my employer (Tempus AI, yes, an AI company) will match every donation up to $1,000. That means your $5 instantly becomes $10 for nonprofits funding sustainable, renewable energy solutions — the people working to actually solve the climate crisis. We’re not just planting token trees or keeping duck ponds clean. The AI Shame Bank is about funding big-picture climate innovation. Once we hit the $1,000 match cap, I’ll keep the Shame Bank open so every dollar still goes straight to climate solutions. If we must use AI, let's use it responsibly. That means: Respect creators → Don’t use AI to replace artists. All current art/music models are trained on stolen work. Use AI to explore and research ideas — not as a substitute for human creativity. Don’t waste compute → Don’t sit there cranking out goofy, fake AI videos or “lol random” images. It burns energy and props up a system of exploitation while creating nothing of real value. Protect privacy → Don’t feed sensitive info into chatbots. Stay authentic → Use AI for organizing your thoughts, not for your admissions essay or personal story. Think green → Don’t fire up a giant AI model for something Google could answer in 3 seconds. AI should help people, not replace them — and not waste our planet’s resources. If you’ve leaned on it, toss $5 into the AI Shame Bank and Tempus AI will double it for climate solutions.
