In the Bay Area, 1 in 5 people is too poor to meet their basic needs. That’s 1.3 million people who are making the impossible choice of paying the rent or putting food on the table. In San Francisco, where rental prices are the highest in the nation and the average family earns $153,000 a year, the disparity is staggering.

Raise awareness

Beyond 12 addresses the college completion challenge for low-income, first generation students at its root. It acts as a data and service bridge between K-12 and higher education, advancing their mission through three core activities: track, connect, and coach. All activities are linked to a data analytics engine that provides rich insights to education administrators to help them better prepare and support their students for college success.

Mission Asset Fund is working to create a fair financial marketplace for low-income families by helping them access responsible credit through lending circles as a way to transition to the financial mainstream and turn their hard-earned income into economic prosperity.
First Place For Youth provides the housing, education and employment services needed to help foster youth build skills for a successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood.

Nurse-Family Partnership is a home visitation program that empowers mothers to create a better life for their children and themselves. Registered nurses work with mothers for 2+ years and help them have a healthy pregnancy, provide responsible and competent care for their children and become more economically self-sufficient.
Since 2005, Tipping Point Community has screened non-profits rigorously to identify and invest in the most effective education, employment, housing and early childhood development organizations in the Bay Area.
